Trenching using Royex
Trenches are generally built for pipelines of oil, water, sewage, and cables. The nature of these installations and services often entails working in densely populated areas. The use of low energy propellant charges minimizes the risk of ground vibration, fly rock, dust and noise.
The use of conventional explosives in trenching requires small drill holes to distribute explosive throughout the rock and avoid contour overbreak. This is avoided with the use of Royex products as there is minimal overbreak.
The benefit of individual hole firing by virtue of the Maxfire Delay Igniter is particularly applicable to this form of operation as extended lines can be blasted sequentially, a feature not possible with other RBC Systems. On site storage is permitted, transportation is uncomplicated and continuous trenching is possible without having to move equipment during the blasting cycle
